About us

The Refugee Council is the largest organisation in the UK working with asylum seekers and refugees. We not only give direct help and support, but also work with asylum seekers and refugees to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.

The Board of Trustees comprises up to 15 members, ten elected by and from organisations which are members of the Refugee Council.

The Refugee Council is a membership organisation and works closely with its members to champion the rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Join us!

Our patrons are Emma Thompson, actress, writer, director, comedienne and campaigner, author Hari Kunzru and Lord Bill Morris, former leader of the Transport and General Workers Union.

We employ over 300 staff at our offices across England. We offer a wide range of job opportunities from front line advice and support work with our clients, to campaigning and fundraising to finance. What connects our staff is their commitment to improving the situations of thousands of refugees and asylum seekers each year.
