What qualifications do I need to work with asylum seekers?
No formal qualifications are required for our front line advice and support roles with our clients. We concentrate on asking candidates to demonstrate the relevant experience, skills and knowledge of the issues facing refugees and asylum seekers. Many candidates gain experience by volunteering with us or other advice giving organisations.
There are no predetermined routes that will guarantee you employment with The Refugee Council. The vacancies that are available are filled by candidates whose skill sets match the competencies essential for the specific positions at the time they are filled. Make sure you read the job description and the person specification requirements very carefully - as we will assess your written application and interview you on the basis of what you have said there in relation to the person specification.
We recruit people from many diverse backgrounds and do our best to assess candidates from both inside and outside the sector on an equal basis - focusing always on the competencies we know we need.
