Stop forced returns to Afghanistan
The Refugee Council has joined forces with our colleagues at France Terre D’Asile, a French refugee organisation based in Paris, to oppose forced returns to Afghanistan.
It was reported yesterday that three Afghan migrants were picked up from Paris Charles De Gaulle airport on a plane already carrying 24 Afghans from the UK. The reason for the stop is as yet unknown. The reaction in France has been one of horror – this is the first time France has removed anyone to Afghanistan since 2005 and Afghanistan is generally perceived to be an unsafe country. The petition begun by France Terre D’Asile last week has already gained over 10,000 signatures.
