You can also keep informed about how the Refugee Council is campaigning for an end to the unjust and unfair treatment of refugees by becoming our fan on Facebook.

Refugees and asylum seekers are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. They have fled persecution in their own country and have travelled to the UK, often at great personal cost to themselves and their families, in search of sanctuary. Once here, they are attacked by the media, legislated against by politicians, and often face racism and hostility in their local communities.

Refugee Council campaigners are crucial to the success of our public lobbying. By becoming one you are a vital part of the struggle to improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK – and how much you take part is entirely up to you.

What we will ask you to do

Recently we have asked our campaigners to:

  • Ask their prospective parliamentary candidates to sign our Asylum Election Pledge
  • Lobby MPs to stop cuts to asylum support
  • Write to the editor of the Daily Mail to complain about inaccuracies in an article
  • Respond to reader polls on asylum
  • Support demonstrations and vigils
