Refugee Council delivers an employment scheme focussing on refugees and asylum seekers who have permission to work but are inactive within the labour market.
The programme offers various components and clients can access different elements as required and potentially progress faster to job preparation.
Vocational advice to help trainees into work, including work placement opportunities and a mentoring scheme. As part of our work based training schemes, the Refugee Council’s Learning & Integration Unit is fortunate to work with a variety of employers from all sectors. Our partners range from local solicitors’ firms to international organisations, enabling us to provide excellent and challenging work placement opportunities.
Refugees and asylum seekers who join the programme as ‘mentees’ are matched with ‘mentors’ – professionals with relevant work experience who can provide advice and encouragement to help with their job search. Meetings with mentors then take place on a regular basis for a period of up to six months.
To support our pro-active work placements programme we provide excellent employment support workshops covering areas such as interview practice, CV creation, application form completion and job search services. We are fortunate to be working in partnership with some well respected organisations to deliver these workshops (KPMG, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Hunt, and Lehman Brothers).
Computer training in Microsoft Office applications leading to ECDL British Computer Society IT User qualification Level 1 and 2. Delivered in locations across London.
Travel expenses and assistance with childcare are available on some courses.
