Summer sleepouts highlight destitution

In May and June 2007 hundreds of people around the country took part in a series of sleepouts and vigils to highlight the desperate situation faced by thousands of asylum seekers.

The Refugee Council, along with Amnesty International, Church Action on Poverty, and our partner organisations in Scotland and Wales, together co-ordinated over 20 actions to support the Still Human Still Here campaign.

Hats off to the many people who braved fairly unseasonal conditions to spread the word – from Iona to Brighton, from Belfast to Newcastle and all spots between.
