Voluntary Assisted Return and Reintegration Programme (VARRP) - Zimbabwe
Asylum seekers, people whose applications have been refused and people with exceptional leave to remain (ELR) or discretionary leave can get help under VARRP for assistance to return to Zimbabwe. VARRP is run by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and provides help with travel arrangements and reintegration assistance.
IOM has an office in Harare, which can provide reintegration assistance under VARRP. Reintegration assistance can include, if required, extra baggage allowance, up to three months temporary accommodation following return and payment of childcare fees for infants. Each returnee will be able to draw up an Individual (or family) Return Plan with IOM and choose help with:
- small business set-up; or
- schooling fees; or
- vocational training; or
- job placements
Individuals and advisers should contact IOM for further details of the assistance that can be offered.
