Sound research evidence plays a key role in the effort to improve policy and provision for asylum seekers and refugees. To ensure that our research has the widest possible impact, the Refugee Council seeks to build bridges between researchers, policymakers and practitioners.
The Refugee Council's policy team does continuous research on a number of policy topics which forms the backbone of our policy position papers. We also share this research with partners to help formulate joint-policy positions or to contribute to other research reports.
Our Research Unit was set up to encourage and undertake research that is informed by the experiences of refugee agencies and refugee community organisations and that engages refugees as partners in research. We work in partnership with universities, voluntary and statutory bodies and refugee community organisations to investigate policy options, collect and communicate data, identify good practice and assess policy impact.
One of our priorities is to help build the research capacity of refugees and the communities in which they settle, so that experiences and needs are identified and analysed by communities themselves and communicated effectively to the statutory sector.
