What is the Asylum Support Support Partnership?


The Asylum Support Partnership consists of five agencies funded by the Home Office to deliver the following services to asylum seekers:

Initial Accommodations Wrap Around services for newly arrived people seeking asylum which provides temporary accommodation and ensures clients receive:

  • Referral to legal representation
  • Referral to health practitioners
  • Explanation of the UK asylum system and their rights and entitlements

One Stop Services for those people with ongoing claims who require independent advice and support. Expert caseworkers are on hand to provide a range of help which includes:

  • Applying for asylum support from the UKBA
  • Resolving accommodation problems
  • Assisting those with refugee status to access mainstream services
  • Referral to legal representation

The Asylum Support Partnership consists of five agencies:

Refugee Council, Refugee Action, North of England Refugee Service, Scottish Refugee Council and Welsh Refugee Council


Where does the Asylum Support Partnership provide services?

Currently there are 22 One Stop Services and 8 Initial Accommodation Wraparound services run by the Partnership agencies accross the United Kingdom. To find out where these services are please click here:

How do the agencies work together?

The Asylum Support Partnership has a secretariat body, the Asylum Support Partnership Team (ASPT) which is the focal point for joint working across the five agencies. The ASPT is hosted by the Refugee Council at their head office in Brixton, London.

The Asylum Support Partnership Team works together with the partnership's agencies, UKBA Asylum Support and other areas of the UKBA, and external stakeholders to co-ordinate the Asylum Support Partnership’s work and to achieve the best support for clients.

Key work includes:

  • Ensuring the services provided for asylum seekers by the Partnership agencies offer the best support and advice possible;
  • Liaising with central and local government to promote accessible and equitable service delivery to asylum seekers and refugees
  • Lobbying and influencing UKBA in all areas of policy and development
  • Poviding regular information updates through the Asylum Support Partnership Newsletter, information updates and policy bulletins.
  • Disseminating information to agencies and stakeholders on UKBA policy, Home Office and Local Authority legislation as it relates to asylum seekers rights and entitlements to support.
