Refugee Community newsletters

RCO News and RCO Women's News are newsletters for refugee community groups, produced by the Refugee Council. They are issued bi-monthly. RCO News has information on current opportunities, training, events and funding for refugee community groups as well as information on legislation and issues affecting London-based groups. RCO Women's News has similar categories of information but is specifically concerned with information pertaining to refugee women and asylum seekers.

If you would like to submit any articles/policy information/events/ training information, please fill in our online form. The Community Development Team welcomes any comments and suggestions with regard to future newsletter themes/articles.

RCO News, Issue 48, January/February 2010 includes:

• Lead article outlining the highlights of the Refugee Council’s Annual General Meeting: working in partnership 
• Refugee Council policy and campaigns updates including the launch of Mayor of London’s Strategy for Refugee Integration, Refugee Council’s briefing on the Draft Immigration Bill (2009) plus updated information on children seeking asylum and how they will benefit from new safeguarding rights
• Interview with UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group about the services and support they provide to lesbian and gay refugees and asylum seekers.
• Funding news looks at the Office of the Third Sector’s withdrawal from campaigning fund
• An update from the Basis Project highlighting the success of a partnership event: Working with RCOs - between the Basis Project, Evelyn Oldfield Unit and the Second Tier Advisor’s Network - which brought development workers together with RCO representatives. RCO Women's News, Issue 38, January/February 2010 includes:
