Changes to publicly funded work

In June 2003, the Department for Constitutional Affairs (formerly the Lord Chancellor's Department) has issued a consultation paper entitled Proposed Changes to Publicly Funded Immigration and Asylum Work. The paper outlines far-reaching changes to the legal help system, which have serious implications for asylum seekers and established migrant communities in the UK.

This briefing includes information on what you can do if these proposals concern you. The Refugee Council has also published a response to the consultation paper (August 2003).
