Independent Asylum Commission: Deserving dignity
Deserving Dignity: How to improve the way we treat people seeking sanctuary [Independent Asylum Commission, Chris Hobson, Jonathan Cox and Nicholas Sagovsky, July 2008]
This is the Independent Asylum Commission’s third report of conclusions and recommendations. Deserving Dignity repeats the Commission’s Interim Findings published earlier this year, along with a response to each finding from the UK Border Agency, an assessment of the UKBA response, and finally 92 recommendations to improve how we treat people seeking sanctuary in the UK.
The recommendations include a review of the use of detention, allowing asylum seekers to work, and ensuring the proper treatment of children and other vulnerable asylum seekers.
