The way forward: an agenda for change [ECRE, 2006]

The Refugee Council is a leading member of The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), a pan-European network of refugee-assisting non-governmental organisations, concerned with the needs of all individuals seeking refuge and protection within Europe. This The EU has an essential role to play in improving protection for refugees and finding effective long-term solutions to the complex challenges faced by its member states. This overview paper summarises the ECRE network’s positive recommendations for how EU states can do this. It lays down a challenge and invitation to all involved in political decision-making to take a new approach to refugees and asylum.
