Vulnerable women - literature review
Refugee and Asylum Seeking Women Affected by Rape or Sexual Violence: a Literature Review [February 2009]
Refugee and Asylum Seeking Women Affected by Rape or Sexual Violence: a Literature Review summarises the learning from the Refugee Council Vulnerable Women’s Project and situates that learning within the wider context of what is known about rape and sexual violence. It provides a summary of evidence that is available about the prevalence of sexual violence against refugee women, and about access to justice in some of the countries from which the Project’s clients have fled.
The Refugee Council will be using the evidence contained in the report to inform the advocacy that will be carried out with partners over the coming year. Organisations that are interested in working with the Refugee Council on these issues are invited to contact Gemma Juma, Head of International and UK Policy at the Refugee Council.
