Refugee Council’s response to the Home Office consultation:
Laying Down Minimum Standards for the Reception of Asylum Seekers [December 2004]
The Refugee Council welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Home Office consultation on the implementation of Council Directive 2003/9/EC on laying down minimum standards for the reception of asylum seekers.
The consultation response has three sections. The first contains general observations on the consultation process and on the UK’s role in negotiations on the EU Reception Directive. The second section focuses on issues relating to the compatibility of the proposed implementation of the Directive with the general principles contained in the Directive’s preamble. The third contains specific responses to the proposals contained in the consultation document and follows the structure of the consultation document.
