Counter-terrorist measures

Joint response to the Home Office consultation on exclusion or deportation from the UK on non-conducive grounds [August 2005]

On the 5th August the Home Secretary, Charles Clarke, announced an emergency consultation on Government proposals to extend their powers to exclude or deport people from the UK. The Refugee Council has submitted a response to the consultation, along with seven other agencies. While we welcome the Government's commitment to debate and consultation on the highly sensitve matter of counter-terrorist measures, we state our concerns about the potential impact of the proposals on refugee communities in the UK.
