Evidence on treatment of asylum seekers

Inter-agency Partnership evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights enquiry into the treatment of asylum seekers [August 2007]

In 2006 the Joint Committee on Human Rights held an inquiry into the treatment of asylum seekers. This document contains the evidence submitted by the Inter-agency Partnership, of which Refugee Council is a partner, to this inquiry. It describes the problems asylum seekers and refused asylum seekers face due to shortcomings in the asylum support system, including numerous case studies. It assesses where there may be potential human rights breaches as a result of legislation and government policy.
