Refugee Council’s Response to the Department of Work and Pensions’ Consultation on the Green Paper 'In work, better off: next steps to full employment' [October 2007]
The Department for Work and Pensions issued a consultation on its Green Paper, In work, better off: next steps to full employment. The Refugee Council’s response welcomes a number of proposed initiatives, particularly on the greater flexibility and tailoring of services around individual training and employment needs. The goal must be sustainable employment that engages the skills, experience and aspirations of individuals. We raise a number of concerns in light of the distinct barriers refugees face in accessing employment and urge the Department to strengthen its equality work with employers.
