Organisations dealing with asylum and immigration law

The Refugee Council advises asylum seekers and refugees about their support and welfare entitlements, but other organisations provide advice and representation on asylum and immigration law.

Asylum Aid
Asylum Aid provides advice and representation to asylum seekers at all stages in their cases. The Refugee Women’s Resource Project at Asylum Aid offers free legal advice and representation, welfare advice support and assistance to legal practitioners who represent women.

Immigration Advisory Service
The Immigration Advisory Service is the UK’s largest charity providing representation and advice in immigration and asylum law. For people who are eligible these services are free and for others a fee-paying (non profit) service is available.

Immigration Law Practitioners' Association
The Immigration Law Practitioners' Association aims to promote and improve the advising and representation of immigrants and to provide information on immigration, refugee and nationality law.

Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants
The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants campaigns for justice and combats racism in immigration and asylum law and policy. It offers free legal advice on immigration, nationality and asylum matters to immigration law professionals and to individuals

Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner
The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner is an independent public body responsible for ensuring that all immigration advisers fulfil the requirements of good practice.

Refugee Legal Centre
The Refugee Legal Centre provides legal advice and representation for those seeking protection under human rights and asylum law. Its services are free for those who do not have the means to pay for legal representation.
