Unwanted Journey

This report examines why Roma people from countries in Central and Eastern Europe - principally the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania – increasingly sought asylum in the UK and other Western European countries in the late 1990s. The report looks at the reasons behind the arrival of Roma in the UK, their treatment here and the questions these issues raise for the protection of refugees in the 21st century.
