How your money helps

Your support allows us to provide immediate and long-term help to refugees and asylum seekers – through our direct services, by campaigning and lobbying on relevant legislation, and by raising awareness of refugee issues to the wider public.

Immediate support includes:

  • free advice service with in-house translators
  • our Day Centre which provides hot meals, food parcels and emergency provisions
  • our Specialist Team, who cares for those with emotional or physical difficulties as a result of persecution in their home country
  • our Children’s Panel who helps thousands of unaccompanied children every year

Snapshot of our work with children during 2006-07:

  • 4,600 drop-in sessions took place to support children in crisis.
  • 242 advice consultations held in 11 areas of the UK.
  • 642 young people with complex care or asylum needs were seen by an individual adviser.
  • 120 separated children attended our weekly social evenings in London.

As part of a longer-term strategy your donations allow us to change and influence policy, giving us a voice to stand up and protect human rights in government, while fighting against the backlash of today’s media.
