Investing in Volunteers
Investing in Volunteers is the UK standard for organisations that work with volunteers and assesses volunteering projects against 55 indicators that make up 10 quality standards.

We decided to apply for
Investing in Volunteers to measure our standards, check that we apply our policies consistently across the organisation and identify areas for further development. Volunteers are a vital part of our organisation, and so it is important to us to make sure that we are treating them as well as possible.
During 2008 and 2009 we were reviewed and inspected by an assessor appointed by Volunteering England, who met with volunteers and paid staff across the country to find out about how we involve and support volunteers in our work. Trustees and Directors were also interviewed to measure the organisational commitment to and understanding of all aspects of our work with volunteers.
We’re delighted that the assessment shows that we meet all of the indicators of good practice throughout the organisation and volunteers are given meaningful and appropriate roles, recruited fairly, trained and supported well and included in team and organisational activities.
As the diversity of volunteer roles continues to increase we will ensure that new positions for volunteers meet and exceed the Investing in Volunteers standard and will continue enhancing our services by involving an even greater number of skilled and dedicated volunteers in supporting refugees in the UK.
