Working with Trafficked Children

Teenage Girl ShutterstockChildren are regularly trafficked into the UK to be forced into domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, other forms of forced labour including cannabis cultivation, or for other forms of exploitation.

The Refugee Council offers direct support to these children, focusing on their safety and protection while supporting them through the various legal and other processes which they have to undergo. We also offer advice to others involved in their care.

February 2015: Trafficked children to get legal guardians. Personal advocates with legal powers will be appointed to child victims of trafficking. The news comes as a result of a sustained campaign by children's and refugee organisations, including the Refugee Council, which has called for greater protection of trafficking victims.  Find out more ...
