Wraparound Service

Through our 'Wraparound Service' we offer advice and support to newly arrived people seeking asylum residing in Initial Accommodation sites in two regions:

  • West Midlands
  • Yorkshire and Humberside.

Clients generally stay in the centres for 3 to 4 weeks, before being dispersed into the West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside or the North East. Whilst there the Wraparound services team deliver the following sessions

  • Initial Appointment ASF1 – This is a session to apply for accommodation from the Home Office for when the client is dispersed. A needs assessment will be done at this stage. We also provide briefing on Asylum Support and the Asylum Process
  • Dispersal – This briefing is given just before a client leaves the centre, it gives information and advice about support, education, harassment and emergency services.

In addition to the sessions, staff operate a daily drop in questions and answer session, for any queries clients residing in the Initial Accommodation centres, may have.

We also run volunteer activities providing project worker and admin support. Our volunteers also provide a women’s group.

I thank the Refugee Council personnel for their efficient support during the asylum process. I am very grateful to you for the way you treated me, and mostly despite the language barrier. I wish you a long life."
