Working with partners
The Refugee Council works with partners nationally and internationally to help improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers or to co-deliver projects or services. Our partners include Refugee Week, ECRE and The Asylum Support Partnership.
The Asylum Support Partnership
The Asylum Support Partnership (ASP) consists of five agencies funded by the Home Office these are Refugee Council, Refugee Action, North of England Refugee Service, Scottish Refugee Council and Welsh Refugee Council
The ASP delivers the following services:
Initial Accommodations Wrap Around services for newly arrived people seeking asylum which provides:
- Temporary accommodation
- A referral to legal representation
- A referral to health practitioners
- An explanation of the UK asylum system
- Advice on rights and entitlements
One Stop Services for those people with ongoing claims who require independent advice and support. Expert caseworkers are on hand to provide a range of help which includes
- Applying for asylum support from the UKBA
- Resolving accommodation problems
- Assisting those with refugee status to access mainstream services
- Referral to legal representation
Refugee Week
Refugee Week is a week of events that celebrate the contribution of Refugees to the UK. Their are 12 partner agencies involved in producing Refugee Week, with representatives from each partner organisation forming the UK steering and operations group which decides the theme for Refugee Week each year. The partner agencies also run events to raise awareness and promote Refugee Week.
The Refugee Week partners are UNHCR, Student Action for Refugees (STAR), Refugee Action, British Red Cross, Freedom from Torture, Amnesty International, Scottish Refugee Council, Welsh Refugee Council, City of Sanctuary, The Children's Society, British Future and the Refugee Council.
