Support child refugees through an evening of exquisite music
Join us at London’s iconic Royal Festival Hall for 'A Child of Our Time', a concert performed by world-class musicians in support of our Children’s services
When: Monday 15 January 2018, 7.30pm
Where: Royal Festival Hall, London
A treat for classical music lovers, 'A Child of Our Time' will be conducted by Edward Gardner, recognised as one of the most talented conductors of his generation. He will conduct multi award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Then, four of Britain’s most celebrated singers join choir and orchestra to perform Tippett’s 'A Child of Our Time'.
Written as a response to the atrocities of World War Two, this extraordinary music recognises the power of oppression while ultimately offering a message of hope and reconciliation.
All proceeds from the performance will go to the Refugee Council’s work with child refugees: unaccompanied children arriving in Britain having fled conflict, trafficking and persecution.
