Brexit and immigration will continue to dominate headlines, and we know some hostile voices will call for a tougher approach towards those seeking refugee protection in the UK.
The reality for refugees and people seeking asylum in this country is a million miles away from the alarmist news stories – and that harsh words and unthinking policy can have a devastating effect on the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum.
That’s why the Refugee Council will be working tirelessly to make sure that issues related to refugee protection are heard by all parties and the next Government.
With Parliament now dissolved, and the General Election only weeks away, you may receive a knock on the door from prospective MPs and your local parties. This is your chance to make sure the challenges facing refugees are heard and for the next Government to see that the public cares about refugees.
We’ve prepared an information pack which should give you enough guidance to talk to your prospective parliamentary candidates about refugees, covering some of the key policy areas we’re working on right now.
Download your pack here.
If you do talk to your candidates and get any feedback from them we would love to hear from you, as this information is very useful to us. You can get in touch with us at GE2019@refugeecouncil.org.uk
