The Refugee Council is the largest organisation in the UK working solely with asylum seekers and refugees. Our operational teams based in various locations in England provide advice and assistance across a wide range of issues, including helping asylum seekers through the complexities of the asylum system, addressing issues of destitution and assisting refugees and asylum seekers to access key services including housing, welfare benefits, health, education and employment.  Our teams work with relevant agencies including UKBA, Asylum Help, Legal Service Providers, Hostels and Shelters, Housing Providers, Health Institutions, Job Centre Plus and other mainstream service providers

Volunteer advisors who are OISC Level 1 qualified will work closely with and provide supporting role to the Destitution Co-Ordinator to provide face-to-face advice to refugees and asylum seekers who are destitute and/or homeless.
