Integration Advice Volunteers

Within the Refugee Council, the Integration team aims to provide advice and support to newly recognised refugees in the main areas of housing, health, welfare and employment.
Volunteers will support clients in the so-called ‘move-on period’, helping them make the transition from being an asylum seeker to being a refugee. This will involve providing a range of support including face-to-face and telephone advice, triaging of drop-in clients and administrative tasks.
Number of places: We are looking to recruit 10+ volunteers.
Interviews: Interviews will be arranged on a rolling basis during the recruitment period.
Commitment: One day per week, 9.45am - 5pm with an hour lunch break. We are looking for volunteers for any day of the week, so we should be able to accommodate people's requests. Please note that we require regular weekly attendance for this role (with well-deserved breaks of course!).
Training: A 5-week training programme is provided, attendance is required. It includes:
Wednesday 12th September (9am - 1pm) - Induction
Tuesday 25th September (10am - 3pm) - Welfare benefits training
w/c 1st October - Shadowing of experienced volunteers (on your preferred volunteering day)
Wednesday 10th October (10am - 3pm) - Housing & homelessness training
w/c 15th October - Shadowing of experienced volunteers (on your preferred volunteering day)
