Investing in Volunteers
Investing in Volunteers is the UK standard for organisations that work with volunteers and assesses volunteering projects against 55 indicators that make up 10 quality standards.
Volunteers are a vital part of our organisation, so it is important to us to ensure that our volunteers consistently benefit from our support.
To reinforce this commitment, we applied for the Investing in Volunteers accreditation. During 2008 and 2009, we were reviewed and inspected by an assessor who met with volunteers and paid staff across the country to learn how we involve and support volunteers in our work and were awarded the certificate.
We are delighted that the assessment affirmed good practice throughout the organisation, demonstrating that our volunteers are recruited fairly for meaningful roles, afforded significant training and support, and included in team and organisational activities.
By offering exceptional support to our volunteers, we continually enhance our services and support for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. As the diversity of volunteer roles continues to increase, we will ensure that new positions for volunteers meet and exceed the Investing in Volunteers standard.
