It is really a brilliant place to volunteer because you can gain so much experience in such a short time.

Marj, volunteer, Therapeutic Casework Unit

I began volunteering with the Refugee Council in 2005. From the start I found it an exciting environment to work in. The organisation has so many talented and committed people from diverse backgrounds all working together to support Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the difficult process of adapting to life in the UK. It has given me a broad understanding of how seeking asylum can impact on lives.

I was training as a counsellor from 2005 – 2011 and when I need a placement to acquire clinical experience with clients I joined the TCU (Therapeutic Casework Unit) as a Trainee Therapeutic caseworker and counsellor. This really gave me an idea of the holistic service that the Refugee council offers and gave me the opportunity to work with other teams to support clients.

It is really a brilliant place to volunteer because you can gain so much experience in such a short time. I have found enthusiasm to support volunteers in every team who have given of their time to support me. Volunteer with the Refugee Council!!!!!
