Negar – our star of Starbucks - Refugee Council

Negar – our star of Starbucks

In just four weeks of on-the-job training, Negar became a Starbucks Barista. Her ambition is to become a full-time accountant at Starbucks.

Negar was working as accountant when she was forced to flee her native Iran for a safer life in the UK. It took some time to adjust to life in the UK .But Negar is an independent young woman in pursuit of self-improvement, so she took up the opportunity of Barista training with the Refugee Council and Starbucks.

Negar enrolled on our employment preparation course which helps refugees to better understand the job market and prepare themselves for a career in the UK. Negar learned how employers expect to receive CV’s and what she needed to prepare for her interview. She then attended a week-long training workshop run by Starbucks.

When Starbucks offered Negar a position, she was thrilled.  In just four weeks of on-the-job training, she became a Barista. Negar’s next ambition is to become a full-time accountant at Starbucks.
