The latest asylum bill has now been published. The Draft (Partial) Immigration and Citizenship Bill is an attempt to simplify and consolidate the nine asylum and immigration bills that have been passed in the last eleven years.
Needless to say the Draft (P)IC Bill is huge – and as the name suggests, there is more to be added later in the year. It already runs to 127 pages of hard-core legislation and the contents alone take up a further nine pages! Oh, and did I mention the summary document ‘Making Change Stick’ (not to be confused with the Department for the Environment’s report on wood usage: ‘Making Sticks Change’)? Mercifully, ‘Making Change Stick’ is only fifteen pages long.
Watch this space for more information as the D(P)IC Bill progresses. In the meantime, you can read the documents here.
