RCOs face the possibility of having to pay for the cost of OISC regulation

The Home Office is inviting responses to its consultation Oversight of the Immigration Advice Sector. Details can be downloaded on the UK Border Agency website.

The most serious aspect of the proposals is that all those regulated would have to pay to make the scheme self financing. There would no longer be exemptions for people giving free advice.

The Refugee Council will be responding and arguing most strongly that the current system of exemptions should continue. We would urge you also to respond and we would like to hear from you about the effect this would have on your organisation.

If you would like to discuss this please contact Richard Lumley by email or telephone 020 7346 1169.
