Safeguarding Refugee Children and Young People

This is a free event

The workshop  aims to improve the understanding of  complex protection issues facing refugee children including issues of  Domestic violence, Sexual exploitation, Female Genital mutilation and abuse related to witchcraft;  by raising the awareness of these issues and the roles and responsibilities of service providers, decision makers and voluntary and community organisations in ensuring the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.

The workshop will also include an overview of the rights that refugee children and young people have under the Equality Act 2010; and the duties that are imposed on children’s services and voluntary and community organisations (such as MRCOs) when they are carrying out their functions and providing services.

This is an important workshop for any one working with refugee children and young people, any one  who is directly or indirectly concerned with protection issues, staff and volunteers who want to learn about child protection and safeguarding issues particularly with regard to children and young people of refugee background.

Please note that ONLY Organisations based in London are eligible for this training.
