Our Rimba Service provides one to one counselling for adult asylum seeking men.
We offer 12 sessions of counselling from our offices in Stratford and at a therapeutic outreach service at Initial Accommodation in London.
At Stratford we see asylum seeking men, of whom many face or live in destitution, and those just granted refugee status to help manage this transition to the host country that often involves mourning the loss of their homeland.
At Initial Accommodation, as the residents are mainly newly arrived asylum seekers, crisis intervention is generally needed. Then, after they are dispersed to more settled accommodation in the regions, telephone counselling extends on going support until they connect to local services.
‘I may not remember everything you said, but I’ll never forget how special you made me feel’
‘Thanks to you, I have re-found my path’
“After leaving my homeland I felt so sad and was filled with guilt and shame. Thanks to being able to talk about this with you and practicing the mindfulness exercises you provided I have been able to sleep properly for the first time in months.”
“Words cannot express how grateful I am. You heard and understood me at a time when I was in the worst state I had ever experienced”.
We are grateful to our funders City Bridge Trust.
